Mark Knopfler. The Ragpicker's Dream (2002)

The Ragpicker's Dream is Mark Knopfler's third solo album (after Golden Heart and Sailing to Philadelphia), released in 2002. It is a collection of songs written from the point of view of poor but dignified people, struggling to get by in life, often enjoying small triumphs. Knopfler does not play the acoustic guitar as much as he used to, but gives a folk imprint to the whole album. The first song, "Why Aye Man", was used as the theme tune for the third series of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and the album contains numerous other references to North East England, including the village of Tow Law on "Hill Farmer's Blues".

Golden Heart is an album by Mark Knopfler (former front man of Dire Straits) released in 1996. It is his debut solo album after Dire Straits disbanded in 1995, although he scored several motion pictures before.

The first song "Darling Pretty" was featured on the Twister movie soundtrack.

Mark Knopfler. Shangri-La (2004)

Shangri-La is the fourth solo album by Mark Knopfler, released in 2004. It features his signature storytelling style of songwriting.

"Boom, Like That", which started receiving airplay in some areas of the United States in September 2004, was inspired by Ray Kroc's autobiography Grinding It Out and the starting of McDonald's, using many of Mr. Kroc's exact words.

"Song for Sonny Liston" is a song about the famous boxer of the same name, and "Donegan's Gone" is about the Scottish musician and singer Lonnie Donegan

In 2005, Knopfler set out on a world tour to promote his new album.

Mark Knopfler. Kill To Get Crimson (2007)

Kill To Get Crimson is the fifth solo album by Mark Knopfler, released 17 September 2007. The CD cover image is taken from the painting "Four Lambrettas and Three Portraits of Janet Churchman" by John Bratby painted in 1958. The first singles from the album are "True Love Will Never Fade" (Europe) and "Punish The Monkey" (U.S., Canada).

The album debuted at number 26 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 23,000 copies in its first week.

The "Kill to Get Crimson" tour, promoting this album, is planned to take place during 2008, kicking-off in Amsterdam, Holland on 30 March 2008.

Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris. All The Roadrunning (2006)

All the Roadrunning is a collaborative album by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris. Released in 2006 by Warner Bros. in the US and Universal Music in Europe, "This Is Us" was released as the first single, followed by "Beachcombing".

The album was the result of a longtime collaboration between the two. Over the course of seven years, the songs were recorded by the pair with minimal information coming out about it.

Although Harris is a songwriter, ten of the twelve tracks on the album were penned by Knopfler.

Mark Knopfler. Sailing To Philadelphia (2000)

Sailing to Philadelphia is an album by Mark Knopfler (former frontman of Dire Straits) released in 2000. The album's sixth song, "Do America", replaces "One More Matinee" on the Warner Bros. release in North America and is included on the UK and North American releases only. The title track is about the surveying of the Mason-Dixon line, the demarcation established in 1781 between the free and the slave states.
