Counting Crows. Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings (2008)

Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings is the title of the forthcoming fifth studio album by Counting Crows. It is split into two halves which consist of the rock music of Saturday Nights and the more country-influenced side of Sunday Mornings.

The Saturday Nights portion was produced by Gil Norton, who also produced the band's second album, Recovering the Satellites while Brian Deck produced the latter half of the album. Deck is perhaps best known for his production work on Modest Mouse's album The Moon and Antarctica.

On December 21, 2007, the band announced that the album would be released in the U.S. on March 25, 2008.

On January 16, 2008, the band released a digital EP as a free download on their official website. It comprises the songs "1492" and "When I Dream Of Michelangelo."

The lead single entitled, "You Can't Count on Me", a track from the "Sunday Morning" side, was released to radio stations on February 4.

Counting Crows. August And Everything After (1993)

August and Everything After is the debut album of Counting Crows, released in 1993.

The title refers to lead singer Adam Duritz's life, as he was born in August and found the album to be somewhat autobiographical.

The album cover features lyrics to a song called "August and Everything After", but the band decided against featuring the song on the album of the same name, and it wasn't until over a decade later that it was played as part of one of their live concerts.

The album contains several references to the 1959 Saul Bellow novel Henderson the Rain King, most explicitly in "Rain King," where Duritz sings, "Henderson is waiting for the sun." Song and novel both deal with isolation and a perceived lack of spiritual fulfillment, familiar themes in Bellow's work as well as the Counting Crows catalogue.

Track Listing

  1. "Round Here" (Duritz, Janusko, Jewett, Roldan, Bryson)
  2. "Omaha" (Duritz)
  3. "Mr. Jones" (Duritz, Bryson)
  4. "Perfect Blue Buildings" (Duritz)
  5. "Anna Begins" (Duritz, Bryson, Jones, Hawkins, Holly)
  6. "Time and Time Again" (Duritz, Bryson, Gillingham, Bowman, Dixon)
  7. "Rain King" (Duritz, Bryson)
  8. "Sullivan Street" (Duritz, Bryson)
  9. "Ghost Train" (Duritz)
  10. "Raining in Baltimore" (Duritz)
  11. "A Murder of One" (Duritz, Matt Malley, Bryson)
