Bruce Springsteen - Working on a Dream (2009)

Working on a Dream is the 16th studio album by Bruce Springsteen, released on January 27, 2009. It has so far sold over 1 million copies worldwide.
The release of the first two songs prompted The New York Times to proclaim Springsteen as "more hopeful, less bleak" than on his previous album Magic. It saw this go-around of the Springsteen persona manifesting "the voice of an honest striver redeemed by love and hard work". E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt sees Working on a Dream as part of a trilogy with The Rising and Magic: "They make sense together in terms of sound, concept and writing style. The three records have been a projection more toward the pop-rock form – this one more than the other two.
The album's opener, "Outlaw Pete", which many observers felt borrowed a central riff from Kiss's 1979 disco hit "I Was Made for Lovin' You", is over eight minutes, while two others are under three minutes.
Listeners considered it one of Springsteen's most stylistically diverse efforts overall. The album recalls some of Springsteen's earlier efforts, as "The Last Carnival" has been interpreted as a sequel to "Wild Billy's Circus Story" from 1973's The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle. 1960s production flourishes are omnipresent, including ones derived from Wall of Sound, girl group, British Invasion-era Top 40, Brian Wilson and Pet Sounds, and The Byrds and "Eight Miles High".

Bob Dylan. Together Through Life (2009)

Together Through Life is singer-songwriter Bob Dylan's upcoming 33rd studio album, with release set by Columbia Records on April 28, 2009.

Rumors of the album, reported in Rolling Stone magazine came as a surprise, with no official press release until March 16, 2009 — less than two months before the album's release date. Dylan produced the record under his pseudonym of Jack Frost, which he used for his previous two studio albums, "Love and Theft" and Modern Times. The album is rumored to contain "struggling love songs" and have little similarity to Modern Times.

In a conversation with music journalist Bill Flanagan, published on Bob Dylan's official website, Flanagan suggested a similarity of the new record to the sound of Chess Records and Sun Records, which Dylan acknowledged as an effect of "the way the instruments were played." He said that the genesis of the record was when French film director Olivier Dahan asked him to supply a song for his new road movie, My Own Love Song, and "then the record sort of took its own direction." The song written for the movie is "Life Is Hard."

Dylan is backed on the album by his regular touring band, plus David Hidalgo of Los Lobos and Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

"Beyond Here Lies Nothin'" was available as a free download for one day on Monday, March 30, via Dylan's official site.

"I Feel a Change Comin' On" was released for streaming on Monday, April 6th on The Times Online website, as well as the third installment of his interview with Bill Flanagan.

The album was leaked onto the internet in its entirety on April 22, 2009. On April 24th the album became available to swedish premium users of Spotify.

Kings Of Leon. Only By The Night (2008)

Only by the Night is the fourth album by Kings of Leon. It was released on September 19, 2008 in the Republic of Ireland, Germany, Australia and Belgium, September 22 in the UK and September 23, 2008 in the U.S..

In interviews with the band, it has been said that the next album will "rock harder" and more tracks like "Charmer", "Black Thumbnail" and "Camaro" have been suggested. "We've broadened our musical tastes in the past couple of years and feel we're ready to tackle our southern roots... again" says Jared Followill, the band's bass guitarist.

Three tracks from the album have been debuted live, "Crawl", "Sex on Fire" and "Manhattan". Caleb Followill claims that pain relieving drugs, which he took following a fight with his brother Nathan (drummer of the band), greatly enhanced his lyrics. Caleb is quoted as saying the medication caused him to write "the best songs of his career". An example of experimentation is evident in the opening track "Closer", which contains lyrical content pertaining to the life of a vampire.

Wilco. Sumerteeth (1999)

Summerteeth is the third studio album by Chicago alternative rock band Wilco. Released through Reprise Records on March 9, 1999, the album was heavily influenced lyrically by twentieth century literature, as well as singer Jeff Tweedy's marital problems. Unlike previous albums, Summerteeth was heavily overdubbed in the studio with ProTools. Tweedy and Jay Bennett created most of the album in the studio, a contrast to the band's previous albums, which were rehearsed live and recorded almost at once.

Despite critical acclaim from numerous outlets, including Allmusic, The Chicago Tribune, and The Village Voice, Summerteeth sold approximately 200,000 copies -- a modest number compared to the sales of 1996's Being There. Wilco agreed to remix "Can't stand it" with David Kahne to cater to radio markets, but the single failed to attain substantial airplay.

The album features The Cardinals as the backing band and backing vocals from Sheryl Crow on "Two." The song "Halloweenhead" was #45 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.

Many of these songs were performed on Adams' recent tour of the United States and Europe. "Off Broadway" first appeared on the bootleg The Suicide Handbook, a compilation of unreleased demo recordings, and was performed at least as early as 2001. "These Girls" previously appeared as "Hey There, Mrs. Lovely" on Adams' unreleased 2000 album Destroyer; the lyrics have been partly rewritten over time, but the original melody is intact.

The album debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200 with Adams highest first-week sales (61,000). As of December 2007, the album has sold over 200,000 copies in the U.S. Furthermore, the album debuted in Ireland, Canada, Belgium, Estonia and Switzerland where Ryan Adams has never had an album chart before. In total, the United World Chart estimated Easy Tiger's two week sales at 134,000 (91,000-43,000).
